About

Denise Bruxelles (she/her) holds a B.A. in English from George Washington University, an M.S. in Secondary English Education from Pace University, an Ed.M. in Curriculum Studies from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an Ed.D. in Learning & Instruction from SUNY University at Buffalo. She is also National Board Certified in Teaching Adolescent and Young Adult English and holds an Instructional Leadership Certification from Relay GSE.

Denise specializes in postsecondary transitions and advocates for authentic, inclusive, and collaborative curriculum and pedagogy. She spent 15 years in secondary teaching and instructional leadership with New York City Public Schools and designed curriculum materials for organizations including SEO Scholars, Expeditionary Learning, and Great Minds. Her higher education work has prioritized expanding college access, participation, and belonging, and she's worked with undergraduate students at Manhattan University's Camino Program and Fountain House's College Re-Entry Program as well as graduate students at Bank Street College of Education, Hunter College's Teacher U, and Relay GSE.

Denise's work has received the Presidential Citation from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching, and a Global Teachers Institute Fellowship; her dissertation, "Readiness Reimagined" received the Changemaker Ed.D. Dissertation Award from the UB Graduate School of Education.

At ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ, Denise serves as the Instructional Designer for the COMPASS/Title V Grant and is a First Year Seminar Fellow.
